Web Site Prices

This is a very competitive market and you could be forgiven for being very confused. It is not unusual to be quoted prices differing by a factor of ten for seemingly the same service.
This is not all the fault of the web masters, it is very difficult to define the specification prior to production of what is essentially an abstract product.
For the same reason we have trouble being specific about prices here, but we can give some pretty good guide lines:

We can produce a single page site, containing a couple of images (from good quality originals) for around £150.00 (GB Pounds). Thereafter similar additional pages cost around £90.00 (GB Pounds).
Naturally image editing, addition of interactivity elements like Javascript, Database driven pages, mail handling, animation etc. all add to the price.

The best way to give you a feel for our pricing is to cost some examples for you: (click on image to view)

One of the simplest we have produced is for Abbey Tents. This contained no special elements and constitutes what we would call a “Toe in the water” site.

Another simple site with no added extras but very attractive.

Here’s one for both guys and gals. The client here has had so much business from this site they are concerned that if they turn it into an on line shop, they would not cope with all the orders.

We had a lot of fun producing this on-line shop because we’re just kids at heart

For this one we had to design the database and set up the system so that the client could update the site on a daily basis themselves.

Not one but two databases here, one for the member list and buyers’ guide, the second for the news, diary and notices. The membership database already existed but the rest had to be set up by us. The site also features a members only area with a message board and an automatically updated diary page.
This a good example of how a site evolves - new features and pages are being added almost monthly. This organisation has really discovered the power of the web to inform and communicate.

So you can see we are not talking major investment here - just a modest commitment to the media of the future - you have nothing to lose and a world wide audience to gain.

We would look silly if our site did not conform to web standards. This icon says that it does! Valid CSS

This site is optimised to browsers that support World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards, HTML4.01 and CSS1.
It is accessible to any browser or Internet device, but as you are not using a HTML4.01 or CSS1 compatible browser it will look, at best, flat and uninteresting. Formatting and positioning of the elements on the pages could be lost completely.
Why we now design to these standards is explained here
You can download free compatible browsers from a list provided here

Special note to users of Netscape 4:

Netscape 4 has very "buggy" support for CSS1 and amongst other things loses formatting when the screen is resized and has to be reloaded. We can script around these problems, but now do not ask our clients to pay for the extra hours of work entailed when only a small proportion of users (3% in June 2002 - and falling) still have level 4 Netscape, and in any case can upgrade for free.
Rather than present you with a confusing, partially formatted site we have removed all styling on this site for Netscape 4.
